The Dictionary of Friendship: A journey of language, art and collaboration
As part of the project The Bridge of Friendship, students and teachers from different countries joined forces to create a unique multilingual book: The Dictionary of Friendship. Through an interactive and creative process, the students worked in transnational groups, transforming words into bridges of communication, art and collaboration.
Step by step the creation of the book
🔹 Word exchange and translation
In the first stage, the partners were divided into pairs of different nationalities. Each pair was tasked with writing words that began with three specific letters of the alphabet. Then, each member translated the words that their partner had written into their language, thus discovering similarities and differences between the languages.
🔹 Drawing the words
Next, new pairs were created. This time, each member took on the task of bringing their partner’s words to life through drawings, transforming linguistic concepts into images full of color and imagination.
🔹 Pronunciation through friendship
In the third stage, the students were divided into new transnational groups and recorded the words of their partners. Each participant pronounced the words first in English and then in their native language, creating a valuable audio guide that reflects the richness of languages and cultures.
A book that unites people
The final result is a digital book that combines words, drawings and recordings, constituting a valuable tool for linguistic understanding, cultivating creativity and developing intercultural communication.
The Dictionary of Friendship is not just a dictionary. It is living proof that friendship can transcend borders, languages and cultures. Through this unique collaboration, students learned that words are not just symbols of communication, but bridges that unite us, inspire us, and bring us closer.
A journey of knowledge, empathy, and creation that will be unforgettable!
